BE A VEDHIKA BRIDE

The sustainable growth of fashion has been inextricably linked with the tradition and culture of a community or country. As style statements march forward it proudly carries with it the fragments of heritage and creative nuances of art and handcraft. This paradigm is more beautiful in India than any other country in the world.

DRESS, PRAY, LOVE

Christmas time fashion is about pastel colors, delicate cuts and simple designer wear in sarees, salwars, kurtis, gowns, lehengas and kidswear. The luxurious appearance of laces, organzas and silks (habutai silk, georgette and uppada silk) have accentuated the beauty of the collection. Pastel hues with intricate handwork using matte finish sequins, metal trims, French bullion knots, resham work, cut beads, cutwork, antique zardosi are the highlights of the collection.

Onam season: Home as Inspiration

Onam season: Home as Inspiration

Onam is one of the festivals that most ushers in childhood nostalgia. From vivid athapookalams in cheerful colors like off white, orange and yellow, the jamandhi and thumbapoo  which fills the flower carpets, fresh fragarance of chembakapoo and mullapoo from the veetumuttam, melodious onappatu (traditional and folk Onam songs)  to mouth-watering onam sadhya(which is my favourite cuisine in the world) comprising of a melange of sweet and sour flavours with delicious payasams that dance on the taste buds throughout the year.

An Ode to Colors, Kanjivarams and Unending Nostalgia

An Ode to Colors, Kanjivarams and Unending Nostalgia

The choice of an interesting story for the next blog has left my mind-boggling for quite some time. And as always what matters the most is the one closest to the heart.

Like the fresh fragrance of fresh chembakapoo at the garden of my ancestral home, the Kesari from the kitchen that reminds me of my Amma’s favourite colour-orange. The love has been sown and grown in my soul that I chose the same colour combination of Fanta orange with arakku border(rich red) from my mother’s beautiful old kanjivaram for my wedding sari (the traditional 9 yards sari)which is still my most favourite pick in my wardrobe. Interestingly orange is one of my mother in law ‘s favourite colours too.
